Saint Mary's R C Primary School
Our Mission Statement
“A man took a grain of mustard seed, and sowed it in his field. Indeed, the seed is smaller than all seeds but when it is grown, it is greater than the herbs, and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in its branches.” (Mathew 13.31)
Welcome to St Mary’s RC Primary School, we are a small, friendly community tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city. In September 2018, we moved in to our new school building but St Mary’s has been educating children in the Battersea area for over 150 years. Our aim is to give every child the best and broadest education within the Catholic faith. Gospel values underpin all aspects of school life. As a Catholic school, we offer our children the opportunity to grow as young people and encourage them to develop a closer relationship with God, and pride ourselves on ensuring all children feel valued as a member of God’s family.
St Mary’s is a school we are all proud of. Our school is a vibrant, positive place that provides a safe and welcoming environment in which to learn. You will find our school to be a friendly and caring community where everyone is committed to providing the best possible learning opportunities for each child, a place where good behaviour and respect for others are highly valued and where every child is encouraged to reach their full potential. Our curriculum is designed to develop the whole child and aims to meet the needs and interests of all pupils through quality teaching and learning, the highest possible standards and hard work.
We are fortunate to have such talented and hardworking members of staff who encourage the children to engage in our wide and varied curriculum and provide an atmosphere where children can fully develop their talents and learn new skills. Children are taught through a combination of traditional and innovative teaching methods with a high staff ratio and specialist teachers for Literacy, Numeracy, languages, PE and music. The children enjoy a wide range of sporting, musical and cultural experiences in addition to the core curriculum so that they have opportunities to explore and develop their talents.
At St Mary’s we work closely with parents to ensure that the time their child spends with us is safe and happy as well as successful. Parents are partners with us during the crucial years spent at Primary school. Parents are encouraged to contact the school as soon as they have any concerns and are always welcome to come into school.
We look forward to welcoming you as family to the St Mary’s community.
